that i don't like to be spoken to in the mornings because i don't like to have to form words. i communicate in a series of grunts and groans.
people say "don't talk to me until i've had my coffee" - i say "don't talk to me until i've listened to some music."
weird?

Not weird at all. I'm pretty particular about communication in the early morning and late at night. Just because I am awake doesn't mean I want to communicate.
