if you were thinking of going to the SF MTE show on saturday - i know it's a drive and such - but the dude they're opening for, john wesley harding, is AWESOME and totally worth the drive.
he has a song called "starbucks" about gentrification and the chorus is "there's a starbucks where the starbucks used to be". he prefaces the song with a silly story about subscribing to "american gentrifier" magazine. he's so funny and his songs are funny and beautiful. he's also an author (like novels! FICTION novels! har.) and it really shows in some of his lyrics. i can't wait to read some of his stuff.
just an idea. i'm sure you'll be mega-busy getting ready and what not, but, in-case you aren't... :)

We have tickets to Dar Williams on Saturday. She is really special to Mike so he got the tickets and we're doing that, though I've not heard much of her music. But Scrappy mentioned that guy tonight during our first longer than 5 word conversation. We sat in awkward silence for 5 minutes before realizing no one was coming back to the room and should probably chat and I was really shy and not in a social chatty space but he WAS and so I just let him chat about what he was up to in music. It was so weird, but the guy sounds super neat!
