this is the first dream i've EVER had where i think i know what it means. it's left me feeling very... interesting? i don't know the word for it right now.
in the first part of it i was walking through an airport alone, not in a hurry, but meandering towards somewhere and i saw jud coming the other way. we met eyes and acknowledged each other but we didn't say hi or anything. jud had a crew cut and was wearing a black t-shirt, where the neck wasn't destroyed by him stretching it out, under a scrappy-ish button-down shirt that was open.
there were 3 people with/around him: 1. beth in a wheelchair. it didn't feel like she was with him, but she was circling him in the wheelchair the entire time - kind of like the girl in "heathers" with the electric wheelchair. 2. a blonde woman. she seemed pretty but not gorgeous and how she was feeling is foggy, kind of like she wanted to smile and be happy but felt like she couldn't. 3. a blonde boy, probably 6 or 7 years old, seemingly disciplined, quiet and not being all that kid like. it was kind of like jud had a purpose but he had this look on his face like, once he took a DEEP breath, he'd be fine and start getting everything and everyone in order. i continue on my way, passing them and i don't remember anything after that.
in the second part, i'm walking through a college campus with this woman that i work with, kerry, the day after some kind of big sporting event. the debris from the game was shoved off to the sides of the walkways waiting to be picked up. i look across a big expanse and see the same jud as above (crew cut, t-shirt, etc) with the same blonde woman and same blonde boy (no beth) and he's playing and really having fun with the kid. running around, chasing him, catching him and tossing him in the air... being a kid with him. i just see him, he doesn't see me, but the blonde woman seems happy, like she can finally let herself be happy and, well, they all seem happy.
and this is a total "conflict/resolution" dream, right? the first part is jud assessing everything he's holding onto: his dad's issues within himself, mom's relationship in the middle, kid (him?) not knowing how to act and still holding onto the slowly dying ideal of beth... in an airport, a place of transition, of arrivals and departures. the second part, at a college, a place of learning and forming ideas and acceptance doubling as the place where both his mom and dad work and teach, he's let go of beth and accepting the part of his dad that's in him and his mom is happy and he gets to play and be a kid for real.
am i seeing that right? if so, whoa.
